Entry#11. Final Blog Reflection.

When taking Proffesor Nielson's English 102 Hybrid class, blogging becomes a part of your life for the next couple of weeks. I was never introduced to blogging until I started taking his class and honestly, at first I didn't really like it. At first it can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you're not familiarized with blogging. Over time it starts getting easier because you start getting use to how it works.

Overall I did like blogging because it allowed you to share things with other people and also allowed you to give an opinion on what your thoughts were on certain class discussions. I do consider that I took this blogging experience seriously because I put effort into it and took my time doing my blogs but I also tried having fun with it by starting to put pictures and adding more detail into it.

At first blogging was a challenge for me because it was something new and I didn't really know how it worked. What was hard for me was that I didn't want to sound too formal but I also wanted to include a little of my tone and voice into my writing. Over time I managed to do that and incorperate pictures as well.

What I learned about writing bloggs is that you need to provide specific background to your reader about what you will be writing about and also that you should always have an audiance in mind. For example, if you're writing about something that was discussed in class make sure you provide the main subject and topic your class discussed so the reader knows what you're talking about.

What I learned about being a student by blogging for a class was that you can express your opinion but you have to support it by using facts and details as your backup. So basically what you say if right if you provide the right back up to support it.

I honestly found blogging to be really useful because it allows you to interact with your classmates in a different way and also allows you to view what they do outside of class becuase everyone is able to share what they want. Blogging also helped but making assignments clear becuase usually classmates write about that we discussed in class and if you have any questions you can ask them about it.

Entry 10. Memories.

As the year is almost over, I would like to take a moment and share some of the most memoriable moments. My family and I really enjoy to travel so this year we decided to take a trip to Cancun, Mexico during the summer. We had already been there befor but it had been about 6 years ago.

For our trip we decided to driving so we can meet all the beautiful cities through out the way. the whole drive took about 6 days because we stopped in so many different places, Our first stop was in Zacatecas, Mexico. We lasted the whole day there, exploring and learning of the history of that state. That was one of my favorite places in the trip because the city itself was so beautiful and had lots of interesting places to go see. Hopefully I get a change to go there again and stay longer.

After driving the whole night and most of the day we arrived in Mexico City and we had a chance to visit the famous Basilica of the Virgin Mary. We also decide to spend the night and visit some other places while we were there. Last time we went to Cancun I had had a chance to visit the Basilica but we made a quick stop and I was glad that we had a chance to meet more historical places.

After a wonderful stay in Mexico City we continued our journey through Mexico. After driving for a whole day and a whole night we finally arrived to Chiapas, Mexico early the next morning where we visited this beautiful waterfall named Las Cascadas De Agua Azul. I had already been there previously in my past trip to Cancun but it had been so long. We ate breakfast there and after that we went to go check in  in our five star hotel. I really enjoyed staying at the hotel because it was really tiring sleeping on the charter bus for 24 hours, it felt nice sleeping in an actually bed after two days. The only thing I don't like about Chiapas is the weather because it's EXTREMELY humid. I'm use to the dry heat and I honestly felt like I was going to die. All i wanted to do was stay in the hotel with the A/C on, but I would definitely go again.

The next day we were off on the rode again but they took us to Palenque, Mexico. Palenque is about 3 hours from Chiapas on our way to Cancun and it was going to be the last big stop before we finally got to Cancun. Palenque is a touristic place in Mexico because theres pyramids and historical tunnels of the Mayas. I had also been there before but it's absolutely one of my favorite places because the it's just so amazing how there's pyramids in the middle of the jungle. It's so beautiful and there's so much to learn, especially if you rent a tour guide to explain the story of the Mayans and how they built all sort of things. The weather is extremely humid but it's just too pretty to not go.

After the last stop at Palenque we drove the rest of the day and the whole night. I was so anxious to get for Cancun, I was so tired of sleeping on a bus for about 4 days. Once we finally arrived I was so happy. I felt like I was literally spending the next week of my life in paradise. There was so much to do and watch, there was a total of four buffets in the hotel and a sea food restaurant, there was open bar all day and there was a snack bar all day with hotdogs, hamburgers and nachos and it was all including in the package!

I honestly had a blast in Cancun, we went snorkeling and there were beautiful fishes of all sorts of colors. We also went to go visit other beaches close by and we went to an island called Islas Mujers. It was so much fun and I'm glad I had a chance to spend that vacation with my family.

After we spent a marvelous week in paradise it was sadly time to go back home but first we decide to go to Chichen Itza. Chichen Itza is one of the seven wonders of the world. It has a weird name because it's named by the aztecs. I really enjoyed going to Chichen Itza because it also has a lot of history and it is very different to the ones from the mayas so you definitely learn a lot of new things.

I absolutely loved my vacation and I can't wait to go on a cruise next year!

Entry #9. Social Media.

For the past week or so, my English class and I have had discussed about the power of social media.After these discussions I have actually noticed differences in the way I view media. Media is such a useful and accesable way to share precious moments with the people you love and for so much more, if you use it correctly. The problem with social media is that most people choose to misuse it or take advantage of it and it ruins it for everyone.

For my finally essay I will be writing about how social media ruins relationships. Social media is a good thing in a relationship if it is used in the correct way. Media is a great way to use for long distant relationships or to be able to talk during the day, but sometimes it gets a little bit outta control because nowadays people communicate through text and other devices other that spending time and talking face to face.

At first, I didn't noticed how often this happens but now I seem to notice it with my friends and their boyfriends and some of my family memebers. I happens more often than it seems but it's not that big of a deal because it's becoming more normal to one another which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Other social media, such as facebook, instagram, twitter and so many other have a huge impact on relationships. Anything you post, anyone you talk to or comment on can be taken the wrong way which is when jelousy comes into play. Relationships stop loosing trust when things start to become a secret and start being kept from one another.

To establish a healthy relationship there has to be fair communtcation between one another, it can't onther be through social media, it has to be through verbal communtcation too. Having no social media involve is also a good idea because there is no one to know about your business except you too and it will cause trust be be stronger.

Entry #8. Trying Someting New.

I've always been very athletic and outgoing when it comes to trying new things. I've been in karate, dance classes and played soccer throughout my childhood. On my senior year I had decided that I wanted to graduate early but it would cost me to no longer play soccer. I had considered playing for a club team but I didn't have the money or the time so the gym would have to do. Once I graduated from high school in December of the year 2013 I decided to go straight to college. Several people had told me to play for GCC but I wasn't really convinced and didn't really have time with school, work and the gym. During this previous summer, I met a young couple at the gym and soon became really close to them. After a few months of knowing them, they told me that they had a softball team and that they were looking for people to join the team. It took me a while to make up my mind if I should join or not but once I saw that my dad and my brother joined I thought I should try it to.

I had never played softball in my life, I understood the game because my sister would play softball when we were younger but I'd never played. I was determined to learn and become a decent player. Over the practices I started to become good catcher but I struggled with my batting. My problem with my batting was that I didn't have the patience.

Over the season I became really close to everyone and I learned a lot. I really liked it and I honestly can't wait until the season starts again.

Entry #7. Stereotypes of Men.

Today, I was looking through a website called Dumb Men and I noticed that it was about different type of Stereotypes of Men. For those that don't know what stereotypes are, stereotypes it's a simplified and standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common by members of a group: such as ALL blondes are dumb or ALL men are strong.

The website Dumb Men was all about stereotypes of men in advertising. It provided several times of commercials and videos of the typical men. For example, there was a commercial of a guy trying to decorate the bathroom with tiles since the stereotype is that men can build and consruct home improvement projects but he failed.This meant, that stupid men can't construct home improvement projects. There was also another commercial about the dad cooking hambuger patties, they are so easy to make and he can't even get that right. Those were only two of the many commercials a watched but these to were the ones that caught my attention the most.

I really enjoyed watching the first video that I talked about because it was intresting. Typically need know how to do all the buliding and construction but then again that's only a stereotype bcause that's how it usually is but that's not always the circumstance. His commercial is meant for the guys that aren't good with constructing home improvement projects and how it makes them look stupid. The mood of this video seems serious yet funny.

Entry #6. Securities in School.

Last week in my English 102 class I got my assigned my second essay. The purpose of my essay is to persuade and inform my audience about a topic in your community that affects you in some sort of way. It took me a while to get ideas on what i was going to write about but i finally came up with to topics. I cam up with the topic of security at my work since I work at a gas station so the security can definitely improve by having a security system at work or my other topic was about the security at school. It doesn't matter what kind of school, it can be a elementary, middle, high, college or university school but the security can always improve. I finally decided to choose the topic that was related to the securities in schools because I believe that all students should be safe at school and it relates to a large group of people. I know that buying a security system for ALL schools might become too expensive since the budget is really tight right now. I came to a conclusion that we can use a simple ID to improve the safety. Lots of school already provide students with a picture ID that is used for checking out books and purchasing lunch in the cafeteria. ID can really help the security but just  wearing it. Wearing an ID will increase safety because it becomes easier to identify who's allowed in school or not. I encourage students and staff to start wearing their IDs.

Entry #5. Local Story Response.

I was assigned to read an article and write about it in my English class. The article was called University to Offer More Short Classes. This article was strongly criticized buy students and staff, some people think it's a good thing and others think the opposite. I think it's a good thing and because it will allow students to save money and time. allowing classes to be only 71/2 weeks long will allow students to finish 2 regular years in one year, the time will decrease by half. This will allow everyone to save lots of money. Having short classes will also benefit students because it will allow them to work around their schedule so it will provide students to get other stuff done as well. I think having short classes will definitely benefit everyone. Although not everyone agrees with this decision I think it's worth a try to try out something different that might benefit all of us.

Entry #4. Time for a Change.

Over the passed month I've been really slacking off with my daily exercise. I've been so busy with school, homework and softball. It's been a little over a month since I've gone to the gym for a whole week on a daily basis. I just feel so tired and not in the mood to do anything but I know that's not right. The holiday season is coming and I need to watch what I eat. It gets so hard when you have your whole family eating all that fattening delicious food while you're trying to maintain your weight. All I have to do is focus on what I do I eat and try to go to the gym as much as I can. I have to really organize my schedule.

Entry #3 Slanted Reporting.

Last week, in class I learned about slanted reporting, which is picking out the information, the good and the bad, and how much information is revealed. I went online to find a good example of slanted reporting and I found one on abortion. It's called Every Reason for an Abortion Is a Good Reason. This article stated that there is't anything wrong with abortions. It's every women's choice but they also have to take responsibilities for their actions.

I personally think that this article is slanted reporting because it only says the good things about abortion or the benefits but that the dangers and risks of this action. This article is personally intended for women deciding to make an abortion or not. I honestly don't really agree or disagree with this topic, but I know that there's a lot of people that do get offended but this subject. What this does to the credible source is that people start to doubt it and no one is going to believe it anymore. It all has to do on how people see things and how open minded they are. 

Entry #2. Love.

This week in my hybrid English 102 class I was asked to write an informative essay of something I was curious of. It took me a while to really figure out something that would be interesting and would catch the readers attention. After lots of thinking I finally came up with the idea of talking about love. Love is something different to everyone. To some people it's just a simple game and to others its just a moment of impact. Love happens in so many ways, to some it can be at first sight. To others it might take some more time for it to develop. Some love is more defined than others. Love can mean so many things, such as friendship, relationship or even just appriciation. There's so many different things and characteristics about love. Love has so many different definitions because to people it means different things, it just has to do with the way love is viewed.

Entry #1. Blogs.

Over the time technology has improved in numerous ways, social media has become extremely popular. The internet is a way that helps us stay in touch with family that are in other places of the world. Blogs for example, have started becoming more popular with time. Blogs provide esay access for close friends and family members to keep in touch with one another.

Yesterday, as a was looking around at some different blogs and I saw some blogs I really at liked Bloggies. One of the blogs that I really enjoyed was a blog called "moment junkie" under the Best Photograghy of a Weblog. I really enjoyed this blog because it provided lots of amazing pictures and gave you descriptions of what was happening or it explained the pictures. Another reason when I enjoed the blog was because it provided emotion and made you feel as if you were there. The images were very detailed and I just really liked it.

Another blog that I really liked was called "America the Beautiful" also on Bloggies. This blogg was different than the first one because it wasn't so descriptive because it didn't have captions or any writing under the pictures. What I liked about this blog was that the pictures where so detailed. It really gives you an idea of all the beautiful places in America.

I also came across a blog that I didn't really took joy in. The blog was called "The Norse Mythology Blog" also from Bloggies. This blog didn't really catch my attention maybe simply because it was about religion. I am not a big fan of religion so that could have been the reason, but I just found it really boring. I must admit, it provided lots of information and images but I just didn't seem to catch my eye. I just think It all has to be the opinion and preference of everyone individually.

Hey everyone ! I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself so you guys can know a little more about me. My name is Kimberly and I am eighteen years old. I was born in Paramount, California but I have been raised in  Phoenix, Arizona. I consider myself I busy person but on my free time I enjoy to read, write and spend time with my family and friends. My hobbies are going shopping, working out and volunteering. I really enjoy helping people as much as I can. I am currently attending Glendale Community College as a freshman.
